[Artist's Concept of AXAF-I] AXAF Project Science: Folding spectra through ACIS and HRC

------------------------------------------------------------------

ACIS: The response matrices for the frontside (FSI) and the backside (BSI) illuminated CCDs were those available by (anonymous) ftp at benz.mit.edu on 6 April 1995. The FSI response is contained in the file acis/RESPONSE_v0.0/acis_fi_g0234p20_thick.rsp; the BSI response is contained in the file acis/RESPONSE_v0.0/CCID17-36-2_simulations/NO_HRMA/ccid17-36-2_g0234p10_fthick.rsp .

The data were extended up to 30 keV by simple high-energy extrapolations of the quantum detection efficiency above the range covered in the response matrix. The extrapolation relaxes to a constant value of 0.01.

The quantum detection efficiencies are available in both tabular (FSI, BSI) and graphical formats.

HRC: The HRC UV Ion Shield transmission efficiency, quantum efficiency of the unshielded CsI coated MCP, and quantum detection efficiency of the HRC-I, taken from Appendix A of the High Resolution Camera Science Instrument Operations Handbook (CDR Version; SAO-HRC-DR-95-138). MCP QE data below 0.1 keV and above 10 keV represent simple extrapolations of the CsI-coated MCP quantum efficiency outside the range covered in the Handbook. Above 10 keV, the extrapolation relaxes to a constant value of 0.01.

The quantum detection efficiencies are available in both tabular and graphical formats.
